A Place for Those Who Care for Others.

A book group for caregivers to enjoy a good story, explore new perspectives, and connect with others who understand the experience of caring for others

Virtual gatherings · A new book every 2–3 months · Just $5 per discussion

Sometimes, It's Nice to Get Lost in Someone Else's Story.

Especially when yours feels overwhelming, isolated or like you’re never the main character.

This is a space to enjoy fiction, explore the complexities of caregiving through characters and stories, and connect with fellow readers. No pressure to share your personal story, just bring your curiosity and love of reading.

How It Works:

1

Get Started

After signing up, you’ll receive information on how the book group works, review the discussion guidelines, and receive information about the upcoming book selection.

2

Information on Next Discussion

You’ll receive the information on our next meeting 6–8 weeks in advance, giving you plenty of time to plan around your caregiving responsibilities.

3

Get Your Book and Read at Your Own Pace

Get your copy from the library, a bookstore, a used-book outlet, or your preferred audiobook or ebook provider. Make reading your own. Try 10–15 minutes a day, or read whenever you find a little time. We’ll share tips to help you make space for reading.

4

Join the Virtual Discussion

Before the meeting, you’ll receive the link to join us on Zoom. Settle into a quiet space and come ready to explore the book with fellow readers. Your facilitator will introduce the author, provide a brief book summary, and offer discussion questions to get the conversation started.

5

Share Your Thoughts, or Simply Listen

Explore the characters, their motivations, the plot, and the many dimensions of caregiving in fiction. Share your observations, ask questions, and discover how others see the story. You can speak during the discussion or contribute through the chat. There’s no expectation to share personal details about your own caregiving experience.

6

Leave with New Perspectives and Connections

Take away fresh insights, the experience of hearing different perspectives, and the opportunity to connect with people who understand caregiving. Meetings typically last 60–90 minutes, and you’re welcome to stay for the whole discussion or leave when you need to.

Join Us for the Next Discussion

We meet at least four times a year, with discussions every 2–3 months. Each discussion costs $5, and you can choose which meetings to attend. Join us for one book or return for every discussion. We’d love to welcome you.
